Southern Maryland Audubon Society works for healthy habitats for people and wildlife. The two usually go together! All species need clean air and water after all. And some of our biggest environmental threats, like climate change, affect plants and animals across the planet.
Our grassroots advocacy starts at home. SMAS has dedicated volunteers who provide testimony at local hearings. We also sign on to support petitions and letters voicing concern for environmental issues at the regional, state, and national levels.
We also leverage our influence by collaborating with many like-minded organizations. Want to get involved? Many of the groups below have legislative action mailing lists; outdoor cleanup, tree-planting, or weeding days; or other environmental education activities.
