Launched in 1998 by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society, the Great Backyard Bird Count
was the first online citizen-science project to collect data on wild birds and to display results in near real-time. For
information about the GBBC see their website at birdcount.org. You can help out by counting birds for as little as
15 minutes! Local GBBC get togethers throughout southern Maryland will be advertised on our Facebook page. The SMAS field trip at Hard Bargain Farm on Sunday, February 20 will participate in the count!
