Leader: LYNNE WHEELER
Join us at Mallows Bay either for a one-hour bird walk hosted by the Southern Maryland Audubon Society,
or you can also officially register to participate in NOAA’s BioBlitz. Whatever floats your boat! Come learn about
the biodiversity in the sanctuary and species that this unique habitat supports. BioBlitz is a free event where participants collect as many species observations as possible. By participating, you’ll help scientists collect valuable biodiversity information and learn more about Mallows Bay! Joining the BioBlitz is easy! Anyone with a cellphone camera and access to the free iNaturalist app can participate. Here’s how:
1) Download the iNaturalist App. Create a user account at iNaturalist.org.
2) Join the project on iNaturalist.
3) You must pre-register for the BioBlitz (10 a.m. – 1 p.m.) You will receive a free t-shirt at check-in! Look
for the blue NOAA tent.
Special activities:
10:00am – Guided bird-watching hike led by the Southern Maryland Audubon Society
All day – Seining for aquatic organisms with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources
