Leader: Lynne Wheeler
Come take a walk with us through the Mattawoman Wildlands to the Mattawoman Creek as we sneak up on waterfowl that love the cove. We expect large concentrations of waterfowl, along with songbirds, woodpeckers (Red-headed WP’s breed here), and raptors. Meet at Lackey High School parking lot, 3000 Chicamuxen Road, Indian Head, MD 20640 at 7:45 a.m. Bring waterproof shoes or low boots, and dress for possible wind. Be prepared for a one-mile walk to and from the head of the trail, and then a half-mile walk on uneven forest trail. Make reservation with Lynne at somdaudubon@yahoo.com or 301-751-8097 (prefer text).
