Join us for a fascinating discussion about Common Terns and Black Skimmers, two species endangered in the state of Maryland. Among many threats, the sandy islands they need for nesting are eroding due to sea-level rise. Our speaker, David Curson, will introduce a new project that provides artificial nesting sites for colonies of these beach-nesting seabirds.
Since 2004 David has worked as Director of Bird Conservation for Audubon Maryland-DC, and in 2018 he also became Interim Executive Director. He has MS and PhD degrees in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Instead of in-person meetings, SMAS is hosting virtual lectures using Zoom. We will send invitations via email with a link for joining each online event.
